My Story

Finding a home in theatre.

Zachary grew up in the western suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and discovered theatre and music in high school. He continued his education at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul, where he started a degree in Music Education and ultimately graduated with a Bachelor’s in Theatre. During his time in theatre classes, it was a requirement to take a Theatre Management course where he discovered his love and calling for theatre producing. It was in this course that he met mentor and friend Dennis Babcock, Producer of Triple Espresso, who hired Zachary for an internship with Triple Espresso and they have been working together for over a decade since.

After graduation, Zachary worked across the Twin Cities as an actor, director, and producer. He developed his passion and love for theatre through his work as an artist, leader, and advocate for arts organizations. His community leadership also included serving as Vice President and on the board of several non-profit community theaters across the Twin Cities metro, including his local theatre for over a decade. This experience lead Zachary to an opportunity to become Executive Director of the Arts Consortium of Carver County, where he helped guide the nonprofit through the effects of COVID-19, managed a local artist marketplace, seasons of gallery shows, and arts programming for the organization.

Leadership & Adventure.

During the pandemic, Zachary felt a growing calling toward leadership in the arts. That interest brought him to New York City to pursue graduate study in Performing Arts Administration at NYU. At the end of his first semester, an unexpected opportunity took him to sea as Theatrical Operations Manager aboard Norwegian Breakaway, where he worked across five venues and managed the production show department of actors, dancers, performers, guest entertainers, comedians, musicians, and wardrobe team. His shows included SIX the Musical, Burn the Floor, VELVET, Syd Norman’s Pour House, Howl at the Moon, and many guest entertainers shows. He sailed for nearly nine months through Caribbean and Mediterranean ports, combining the demands of live entertainment with the adventure of life at sea.

While aboard Norwegian Breakaway, Zachary was accepted to Columbia University’s MFA program in Theatre Management and Producing. He returned to New York to continue his education, where he produced, managed and acted in multiple productions at Columbia University and served as Thesis Operations Manager for two seasons of MFA productions. As part of his education, he completed multiple internships during his time at Columbia, this was where Zachary was introduced to Broadway & Beyond Theatricals, where he was hired as an intern and was asked to become full time during his MFA thesis year. Zachary has since graduated with his MFA in Theatre Management and Producing from Columbia University and is actively working in theatre producing and management.
